What types of issues are handled by bylaw enforcement?                                                                                              

Bylaw enforcement typically deals with:

  • Animal control (barking, roaming pets, nuisance animals)
  • Unsightly properties
  • Noise complaints
  • Property maintenance,
  • Parking violations
  • Snow removal
  • Zoning infractions.

What happens after I report a bylaw violation?

The bylaw officer will investigate the concern. If a violation is confirmed, the property owner or individual may be given a verbal warning, written notice, or enforcement action, depending on the situation.

Will I be told what happens after I report something?

If you provided your name and contact info, you may be updated once the City has followed up. However, details about another person’s compliance or enforcement actions may be limited due to privacy laws.

What if I want to make a complaint after hours or on the weekend?

You can still report it by submitting a service request. The by-law officer will follow up as soon as possible. If the matter is urgent and requires immediate attention, Please call the by-law officer after hours number at 204-332-1653 and leave a voicemail detailing the problem. If you don’t get a quick response, please call the Winkler Police at 204-325-0829.
