Mowing

There is a total of 486 acres of mowing area in the City of Winkler. 

The mowing area is broken down into two categories, finish cut mowing and rough-cut mowing.

The Parkland Green Spaces account for 55 acres. 
73 acres are deemed as finish cut mowing which includes parks, sports fields, and designated boulevards. 
358 acres is deemed as rough-cut mowing which include ditches, drainage retention areas, greenspaces, and boulevards.
Mowing typically begins in early May and can go into mid October depending on the weather.

Mowing of the 486 acres can generally be completed in a weeks time provided weather conditions are acceptable to do so.


A reminder regarding safety to the public: Debris that can be thrown from a mower cannot always be seen by the operator so a safe distance should be maintained when in proximity of mowers.
